The installation, testing and commissioning of five desalination units, manufactured by ESCO (USA), and associated intake facilities in four different locations in the western regions of Abu Dhabi, distributed as follows:
Mirfa and Sila: One unit each of 2,000 cubic meters/day and one unit each of 1,000 cubic meters/day.; the installation of 900mm diameter GRP water intake pipelines in the sea; 1 km long at Mirfa and 750m at Sila.
Jebel Dhana: One unit of 1,000 cubic meters/day. Delma: The construction of intake facilities for the one million gal/day plant; the installation of a 1200mm diameter, 220 meter long GRP water intake pipeline.
This project was undertaken on a turnkey basis. All related civil works including intake chamber, chemical building, control building and all plant foundations were done by Pivot.

Mechanical Details
- The installation, testing and commissioning of five desalination units, manufactured by ESCO (USA) and having a value of Dhs 28,500,000.
- The supply and installation of 3 vertical single stage sea water pumps, capacity 900 cu. m. per hour each and 40 metre head.
- Supply and installation of a travelling screen.
- The supply and installation of a Ni-Al-Br trash rack.
All above equipment was installed as part of the intake for the project and was connected to the main water booster pump by Installation of a seventeen ton boiler for the 2,000 cubic meter/day unit and an eleven ton boiler for the 1,000 cubic
Installation of compressors, heat exchangers and many other different pumps, together with all necessary pipes.

Electrical Details
At all four locations, the electrical works included the supply and installation of a motor control centre, transformers, external lighting, internal lighting for the control room, fire alarm system.
All systems were connected and controlled through a central control panel; to control the complete installation package of the plant, which was installed and commissioned by Pivot.
Additionally, at Delma, a travelling screen with a screen wash pump was installed to service the one million gallon/day plant. (This plant was built by outside contractors)
