The project involved the complete renovation of an existing market and the addition of 13,000 sq.m. of new construction. One feature of the renovation was the cutting of the first floor slab and the construction of a double curved structural steel canopy.
The canopy spans the central atrium and measures 20m deep by 70m long. The front of the atrium features a spider system frameless double glass wall 30m wide by 10 m high.
The building consists of 3 floors with an approximate gross area of 46,000 square meters distributed between the three main floors. The new centre includes boutiques, restaurants, a food court and a hypermarket.
Deluxe finishes and marble wall and floors were used. Two existing water towers were completely renovated, painted and decorated with GRC panels.

Mechanical Details
Demolition Works: Carefully dismantle, remove and transport to municipality stores all AHUs, FCUs, split units, fans, chilled water pumps etc.
HVAC system: 12 AHUs, 17 FCUs, 8 split units, controls, chilled water pipes and fittings with valves, insulation and supports. Connection to the Tabreed district cooling chilled water system.
Air outlets:
Ventilation system complete with 32 fans, ducts, dampers etc.
Plumbing and Drainage system:
Cold water distribution pipe works, central filtration system with
Fire fighting system: Distribution to sprinklers with wet alarm valves, fire fighting pump set, complete with control panel and pressure tank.

Electrical Details
Phase 1: Dismantle and relocate existing electrical items (switchboards, lighting fixtures, cables, isolators, clocks, and fire detectors).
Repair and modify existing submain distribution boards in the two existing substations to suit the new design requirements.
Phase 2: Supply, install, test and commission:
New main and submain switchboards to service public areas and hypermarket area, as well as retail shops area.
Six new 2,500A main distribution boards and varying capacities of sub-main distribution boards from 200A to 1,600A.
All power cables from substation to main building.
Complete fire alarm system, break glass stations, electronic sounders and alarm bells, 800 detectors and all required cabling.
