The design and construction of fifteen 33/11KV substations and 2 auxiliary buildings in the Abu Dhabi/Al Ain area. HV electrical works were undertaken by the main contractor, Hydromontaza. Pivot supplied the civil, mechanical and LV electrical works.
Each substation covers an area of fifty meters by fifty meters and comprises a main building of 550 square meters, a transformer area of 170 square meters, concrete roads, external drainage, an open yard and a 2.5 meter high boundary wall.
The civil works consist of a basement, raft footings, concrete walls, etc, carrying a concrete structure construction with fascia and having block walls. Transformers are adjacent to the building and protected by a 30cm thick explosion protection wall.
PIVOT designed the concrete structure, roads, boundary walls and prepared all the architectural drawings. All designs and drafting were checked and approved by the consultant

Mechanical Details
The switchgear rooms were ventilated by intake and extract ventilators on both sides of the rooms.
Air-conditioning was by window units and split type air conditioning units on special foundations outside the building; with all the necessary piping and ducting installed.
Plumbing and Sanitary:
The building was furnished with a normal drainage system consisting of floor traps, UPVC piping, septic tank and soakaway.
The hot and cold water supply were also installed for the kitchen and bathroom fixtures.

Electrical Details
The electrical works included all required internal and external lighting (including boundary wall) and power points for airconditioning, and ventilation equipment.
